Computer History Museum Computer History Museum

The Computer History Museum (CHM) is a museum established in 1996 in Mountain View, California, US. The museum is dedicated to preserving and presenting the stories and artifacts of the information age, and exploring the computing revolution and its impact on society. The museum's origins date to 1968 when Gordon Bell began a quest for a historical collection and, at that same time, others were looking to preserve the Whirlwind computer. The resulting Museum Project had its first exhibit in 1975, located in a converted coat closet in a DEC lobby. In 1978, the museum, now The Digital Computer Museum (TDCM), moved to a larger DEC lobby in Marlborough, Massachusetts. Maurice Wilkes presented the first lecture at TDCM in 1979 – the presentation of such lectures has continued to the present time.

Seven Seas Park Seven Seas Park

Sunnyvale's newest park, Seven Seas Park, is the perfect place to spend a day in the sun. This well-designed recreational area has something to help every age group burn off that excess energy. The park features two playgrounds (one fenced in for younger children and one for the older children), a 1/2 basketball court, a tennis court, spray pool, a multi-use field, walking/jogging trail, picnic tables, two barbecues, clean restrooms and a fenced dog park. True to the park’s theme, the main play areas are patterned after pirate ships and aquatic adventures. The little tikes play area is fenced and has a toddler-proof gate to keep kids from wandering off. Their playground has a large sand box and equipment suitable to shorter legs and little hands and includes rocking seahorses, a small tunnel feature and musical features on the inside of the gate for toddlers to explore. The area is also partially shaded by a canopy. You can turn your kids lose and not worry that they will escape or be overwhelmed by climbing structures that are too big for them.

Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum

The Sunnyvale Heritage Park Museum is a historical museum located in Sunnyvale, California. It is a replica of the original Martin Murphy family home. The Martin Murphy family, founders of the City of Sunnyvale, constructed the house in the 1850s. Since there were no sawmills near Sunnyvale at that time, they had the lumber milled and the house assembled to their specifications in Bangor, Maine, then shipped it in pieces around Cape Horn to Sunnyvale, where it was reassembled. It was held together with wooden pegs and leather straps, and was the first wood frame house in Sunnyvale. The Sunnyvale Historical Society obtained its designation as a California State Historical Landmark in 1958. It was demolished by the city in 1961 due to extensive damage following a fire.
